Toon, Paranoia, Gamma World... so many cool RPGs. My parents owned a photocopier, so I had copies of just about every RPG book in the 80s (I can still smell the toner). The ones I bought included Traveller, AD&D and anything by (the under-rated) Palladium Books.

Adrian, I remember buying your copies of Dragon magazine!

Now every old & new RPG is available in pdf form, via p2p. But what to do with them? It's difficult to imagine actually running a campaign these days. We're all so busy...

Re: the X comix, my favourite after Uncanny X-Men was the New Mutants, especially the artwork by Bill Sienkiewicz.

Christian, what's the X-Men game that you're joining?

oh, and i kind of liked early x-factor where the five original x-men reunited and played a crucial role in the great marvel mutant massacre - possibly one of the greatest and (shamelessly cross title) story lines that marvel ever managed

erm...yes, time to...go to the gym...yes, the gym

haha... I'm lifting weights right now!

(Classic) Traveller was my favourite RPG in the 80s (closely followed by AD&D 1st edition). It was amazing - designing galaxies, or huge fleets of spacecraft. Or smaller scale adventures such as running contraband through dangerous systems...

It's a shame that it didn't have the influence of D&D, although I see some resonance in TV shows such as Firefly, Babylon 5 and the more recent Star Treks. A new CRPG version of it would be nice - like D&D got with Neverwinter Nights.

The X-Men (and related) comics were also an obsession of mine in the 80s so I was very excited about the films, but playing X-Men Legends 2 has got me obsessed again. I've recently been catching up with the 90s animated series, which is pretty good. Don't know if I can deal with the more recent X-Men Evolution series, where they're recast as teenagers, or the recent comics which seem to be shamelessly milking the post-film popularity (eg Wolverine is in at least four titles).

Always wanted to play Traveller, it seems relatively *awezome*. I will be soon joining an X-men game run by a rampant continental philosopher based on the fact we went nuts playing X-men legends 2.

So I'm assuming that you know them now? And how come you're using the Royal 'we'?

The one thing I didn't know this time last year

That 'Lemon Morning Fresh' dishwashing liquid is a perfect substitute for fresh lemons in cooking.
